"I went to China on my own and survived - I was lucky.  The on-line airline ticket website I went to just happened to be legitimate.  It was only later I heard about people arriving at the airport to find they didn’t have a valid ticket.  Also, a Chinese person was waiting for me and had arranged for my hotel.  If you don't have someone on the "inside" working for you, your trip to China can easily be ruined by a seemingly minor oversight.  If you don't actually go with Katie on a tour, have her e-mail address and phone number tattooed on your body.  I used Katie's translation services which were fast and accurate.  She was willing, and, as a software engineer, quite capable of accommodating a variety of transmission methods including 3-way chat with my Chinese contact."    - Phillip H.
